Shopping List

none--go to a restaurant! Past years have been at Wisteria House...though since their Newbury St one isn't there anymore...open to new suggestions (you guys better take us somewhere good :P haha)

  • 2008: East Ocean City
  • 2009: JoJo Taipei
  • 2010: JoJo Taipei
  • 2011: JoJo Taipei

Notes

  • be careful about leaving people out when you're recognizing seniors--there are those who were on exec before you young'uns showed up and those who weren't officially on exec but still helped out a lot who should be recognized too. a good way to make sure you don't forget people is to ask the seniors you do know to list out everyone they can think of.
  • if the logistics of getting everyone to a restaurant get annoying, you could think about doing a catered dinner on campus. do RSVPs as usual, have non-seniors pay a certain price, a little set-up, but you can avoid all the time/craziness of getting everyone to a restaurant.

2012 Notes

  • Printed 13"x19" on glossy photo paper from CopyTech (TOTAL OF $6!!!). Super cheap. One had to be printed from Staples for like $20
  • Ordered 12 13"x19" frames (on sale) from [1] for $50.
  • Try and get older people who know more seniors; possibly pair a younger exec with an older exec to run senior dinner. We had problems since we didn't know half of the seniors
  • USE THE PICASA. We have so many high-res photos now.

2011 Notes

  • Picture frames that fit 13" x 19" (not sure if this size actually exists for frames) are recommended because if you print this size at CopyTech it's much much cheaper versus $18 per collage
  • This year 16" x 20" frames were bought at $10 and $15 because they ran out. Collages were printed at the CopyTech (student center location) for $18. You submit an online form and they prefer the images to be in .pdf format
  • PRINT EARLY because this year their printer broke down and getting them printed the last day of operation was very very risky. Also this is near hell week so people were sending me collages at 6 AM or backing out completely
  • Start organizing EARLY like before Strait to Taiwan, I wanted to wait after that craziness was over but that didn't work out too well.
  • Also it helped a lot to at least gather pictures a month in advance and ask for them early...otherwise you'll be getting low quality pics from Facebook
  • The best resolution to use for the collages are 200-300 dpi

2010 Notes

  • Picture frames (16" x 20" were bought for 10 dollars at the Artist Supply store in Central for around 10 dollars)
  • Use dropbox! Simplifies things greatly! :D
  • Make sure to make the pictures EARLY! Or else you have to pull all nighters
  • Printed collages at kinkos in Harvard Square. Around 30 or so dollars per collage. Make sure you do it before SUNDAY as they say on their website they don't do pickups on Sunday. (Though exceptions can be made but do it anyways)
  • Don't give away surprises to seniors!
  • RSVP was done by doodle (for whether people can make dinner/festivities) but maybe a website RSVP could work too :D
  • We had senior speeches this year and they worked SPECTACULARLY :D Get people the seniors KNOW WELL so an AWESOME speech could be made.
  • Try and add something that would surprise the seniors...it's nice :D
