Event Description
ATS Family bonding through competition with other families. Each game gives points (1st - 5, 2nd - 4, 3rd - 3, 4th - 2, 5th -1) with prizes at the end. This time, due to the odd teams, we did not do formal points.
Attendance
About 12 people at any time, people floated in and out. Ended up simply splitting into three teams (Bobasaurs, Pirates, and BFFLs with some temporary adoption). Possible low number of attendees, because it's been awhile since the last time this event occurred.
Events (In order)
- Toilet Tag - "Stall Game"
- Game used to stall as we waited for more people to show up
- Not for points
- Everyone participates indiscriminately
- Two people are "it", they try to tag people out. When tagged, the tagged person kneels down and holds their arm out. Another person can "flush" (push arm down) of someone tagged to untag them.
- Pineapple Bun Eating Contest
- Three pineapple buns per family. Planned for 5 families -> bought 15 pineapple buns morning of. Ended up only using 9 as there were only three teams.
- Three family members eat the pastries one at a time (one per person) without hands.
- Water rule was clarified so no water can be had while eating the pineapple buns.
- Rankings are determined by time
- Body Parts Game
- Families formed teams of three to do challenges where they have to collaborate in order to manuever so that only a certain number of body parts touch the ground (i.e. three hands, one foot). Have to hold the pose for five seconds.
- Five rounds
- One MC called out the challenge.
- Balloon Popping Game
- Family members sent representatives (3) to have color coded balloons based on family tied to their ankles. One per ankle.
- Members try and pop other families balloons without popping their own in an enclosed area. (Area shrunk over time)
- Originally planned for in a certain time period and points would be determined based on number of balloons surviving per family. In the end, just played to the death.
- Blindfold Obstacle Course (Did not occur)
- Families send up one representative each that get blindfolded.
- They have to make it past an obstacle course (of either chairs and tables or exec members ;P) to the end the fastest.
- If they touch an obstacle they have to go back and start over.
- Family members can shout directions from the sidelines.
- No roughhousing
- Did not occur due to time constraints
- The MVP ("matriarchs v. patriarchs")
- Except its all *atriarchs against one another
- *atriarchs don a hat and are held up by four members of their family. The goal is to decrown other families *atriarchs.
- Doesn't really have to be *atriarchs - but just one person to rep the family
- Points decided by how long they can stay crowned
- Clarification: once an *atriarch has been decrowned, they cannot decrown others
- Took a shorter time than expected
Final Awards
- Best Buns : Pirates
- Awarded for the most interesting way of eating pineapple buns (nice Andy)
- Award was a large pineapple bun plaque
- Most Innovative : Bobasaurs
- Awarded for the most innovative configurations for Body Parts Game (lol Slava)
- Award was a lightbulb plaque
- Most Spirited : BFFLs
- I think this is kinda self-explanatory
- Award was a mini megaphone made of paper
- Most Supportive : Pirates
- Awarded for the best configuration/support of *atriarch in MVP
- Award was a crown
- Best All Around : Bobasaurs
- Won the most events
- Award was a framed certificate
Materials
- 15 pineapple buns
- balloons
- rubberbands (from stud storage)
- blindfolds (volunteered from old shirts)
- hats (for MVP, volunteered)
- plates & cups (from McC storage) - almost forgot to get this!
- Snacks: pocky, matcha pandas, chocopies (not that popular), aloe (bought 3, should've bought more), rice crackers (also not that popular), shrimp chips (good stuff), and more that I forgot...
