Description
Introduce the Class of 2016 to ATS with some delicious shaved ice!
Materials
Budget: $80
Spent: CMart (??), Costco (??)
Food
- 9 cans of fruit (probably should get larger cans) (bought 6 30oz, used all)
- 6 cans lychee (used all)
- 9 cans condensed milk (5 left)
- 7 cans red bean paste (3 left)
- 5 cans grass jelly [ไป่ (xian1 cao3)] (2 left)
- 5 cans aiyu jelly (made from the jell extruded from agitating aiyu fruit seeds) (1 left)
- 5 cans coconut jelly (none left)
Other Stuff
- 250-300 bowls
- spoons
- 2 shaved ice machines
- extension cords, tape, paper towels, scissors
- signup sheets + pen, yearbook, banner, shaved ice sign
- 2 trash bags (1 for trash, 1 for recycling)
Notes
Logistical Improvements
- poured condensed milk into squeeze bottle
- cut jellies in pink bowl with plastic knives
- double layer bowls and taped the down to the table
- topping labels (got wet and scattered, but helped people name the toppings)
- large metal bowl for extra juice
- used scissors to cut lychees
Other Notes
- gloves?
- smaller ice scoop might be easier for adding ice to machines
- only able to get about half a cooler of ice (and thus ran out) since McCormick East penthouse ice maker is smaller and downstairs one didn't have any, couldn't get ice from Johnson because no one is a varsity athlete...
- maybe trash-bag or line the table for less mess
- shaved ice sign got in the way (did it help to attract people?)
