Description

UBER SUPER HAPPY FUN EVENT

Food

Went to Hotpot Buffet - __ people attended

  • Asked non-seniors to bring $30
  • Everyone was very stuffed and eating contests happened
  • ___ total

Seniors

  • Garrett Lau
  • Morgan Lai
  • Joseph Lee
  • Stephanie Chang
  • Holden Lee (not previously exec, but very active and helpful)

Collages

We asked people to volunteer and make collages.

Successful:

  • Garrett Lau
  • Stephanie Chang
  • Holden Lee
  • Joseph Lee

Ended up making the collage:

  • Morgan Lai (her RSVP was very last minute)

Seniors who did not RSVP/attend, so we didn't make a collage:

  • Angela Wang
  • Shuhan Wang
  • Junyao (JY) Song
  • Valerie Chia
  • Shuo Wang
  • Linlin Huang

Printed 11"x17" on #65 glossy paper from Copytech, came out to $6.54 for 6 collages.

Ordered 4 11"x17" fancy mahogany frames from Amazon for $47.96 + $14.25 shipping, and used one 13"x19" frame leftover from last year for a last minute RSVP.

Bought opaque paint markers for $12.86 to sign the collages, since the backs were black.

Other Notes

  • We tried to be too cryptic and secretive... It didn't work out well. We got the impression that in past years, Senior Dinner was kept ~*secret*~ from the seniors and very mysterious, so we sent out an email titled "ATS Uber Super Happy Fun Event RSVP" with a Doodle, and not much other info. The result was that some seniors possibly didn't realize that this was Senior Dinner, and we got very few RSVPs-- basically only from active exec. So we sent out another email clarifying that they would be honored for their contributions to ATS, etc etc, and got one more RSVP. Though the lack of attendance this year was compounded by the fact that there were only two active seniors during the year.

TL;DR: Being so secretive that the seniors don't realize the event is senior dinner is baaaaad

  • It was hard to plan around other end-of-year events like acapella concerts and other clubs' dinners. Should consider holding the event earlier in the future. On the other hand, this was the first weekend after the end of classes, so it was nice for the seniors who didn't have many finals since their work deadlines were already past so they could relax and have fun.
  • Steph Yu made a really nice video with snapshots of all the seniors, and clips of various ATS members saying things about the seniors and telling anecdotes.
