Event Captains

Culture Chairs: Norman Cao, Sumit Gogia Others: None (!!)

Overview

Attendance: ~500ish (Too big for Lobdell)

Event went very smoothly. Food was served on both sides of Lobdell on the second floor. Instead of one monolithic food line on either side, food was broken up into 'booths' of 3-4 dishes each which people went and ate. Lines were almost nonexistent.

Food List

  • JoJo Taipei (Our go-to Taiwanese Restaurant)
    • San Bei Ji (Three Cup Chicken)
    • Si Ji Dou (Green Beans)
    • Vegetarian Fried Rice
    • Chicken Lo Mein
    • Scallion Pancakes
  • Bibim (Korean Restaurant)
    • We ordered one thing and got another.
  • Mei Mei Street Kitchen (not that good, and expensive. Don't go to again)
    • Meat Dumplings
    • Veggie Dumplings
    • Thai Curry Skewers

Notes

  • AAA handled logistics and booths, CSC handled performers, ATS handled food, pub, and decorations
    • ATS had the largest workload, and while the event was great, it was a lot of stress on our pub chairs (+infinity to them!)
    • Food takes a lot of setup and volunteers, don't let ATS be the only club handling that.
  • Tell restaurants to come 1 hr before the event starts. Then they'll arrive 30 minutes early.
  • Make sure you ask restaurants about dietary restrictions so you can label food
  • The cultural chair should be focusing on Nightmarket - don't forget to get a captain from the ATS side to handle ATS's shaved ice booth
  • Start planning early, and don't be afraid to take leadership!

Proposed Structural Changes

  • After Nightmarket, we proposed that Nightmarket be changed so old cultural chairs are involved for more of the planning process during the spring
    • More on this as it develops during the 2014 year.
