General Info

This is our Welcome Banquet! Exec wakes up early and cooks a dinner for ATS. We welcome in the new freshmen and welcome back the upperclassmen. It's a pretty festive time. :)

  • ____ attendees - was pretty crowded
  • Freshmen Reps: Tiffany Wang and Julia Huang

Sad story: Someone spilled milk tea all over the door signs. We left them out to dry at Next overnight and YOU CAN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE lolol.

Decorations

Clare was in charge of decorations and set-up.

Entrance Notes

There is generally disagreement on prices among the past wiki pages. This is what we did this year:

  • FREE for all freshmen, and members
  • $5 for membership
  • $7 for non-members

Set Up

Get to MacGregor EARLY. I would say about 2 hours - we were still setting up when people first started to arrive.

MacGregor Dining has a bunch of long tables and circle tables. It has a raised stage at the front. (See historian pics for reference)

  • We put the long tables on the raised stage and used them to serve food from.
    • There was also a table off to the side on the stage where we put drinks.
  • The circle tables were arranged in 2 columns for people to sit at. Yay, circle tables.
  • We brought lamps (from Next 3w) to MacGregor to put in the corners. They REALLY brightened up the dining room! (It has pretty dark/depressing lighting otherwise)
    • A lot of people came and ended up sitting in the back corners - so the extra lights made it good

Decorations

BRING AS MUCH TAPE AND AS MANY SCISSORS AS POSSIBLE!!

  • Red banners were put on the wall (used duct tape on the brick - no damage on walls done)
  • Red tablecloths on the circle tables
    • We put ATS buttons scattered on the center of each table.
    • Tian also made origami flower centerpieces and we put tealights in them. (should be pictures on historian photos)
      • Looked cool, but took a lot of time. Either start earlier or
  • LANTERNS! Hung them from the pipes on the ceiling of MacGregor.
    • We popped them at Next, and then realized we would need to transport them to Macgregor. Awkward.
      • So we decided to be funny and string them all together and transport them to Macgregor in a LONG HILARIOUS CHAIN....
    • So don't pop and string the lanterns until you get to Macgregor
