  • 2:45-2:55 - Introductions and get to know you games

Notes

  • McCormick is sad...green living room outlets did not work.
  • Projector cord not long enough. Need to bring extension cord
  • Also need to bring HDMI. Projector cord to VGA is weird and not right.

Sign Up Table

  • had 3 laptops :) yay - worked out well
  • t-shirts - not enough sizes? (small red?)

Game

  • People got into two concentric circles with the inner circle facing the outer circle. The outer circle would rotate by a certain number of people and then talk to someone from the inner circle. Danny and Cynthia wrote out a list of discussion questions for each conversation such as What is your favorite color? The green living was kind of too small for this, so it didn't work out that well. It was hard to shout conversation topics over everyone's talking.

Cooking

  • Everything seemed to work out well.
  • Pork dumplings turned out to be super tiny. Had leftovers, but we were just surprised at the super tiny dumplings
  • Milk Tea: DO THIS FIRST because tea has to cool. Fill water boiler and start heating water. Put a layer (about an inch or two) of water in a big pot and start heating up. Keep filling with water from the boiler. When there is enough water (leave room for ice) put the tea bags in (debate on whether we should tie tea bags). Let soak. TURN OFF HEAT BEFORE PUTTING IN CONDENSED MILK. Mix and add ice.
  • Dumplings - cook on the griddles. Plug in, with temp set to 400 degrees (?). Apply oil liberally and make sure its hot. Put dumplings on the pan. Cook for a bit. Pour water in until the level covers most of a dumpling. Cover with lid and cook until water is mostly gone.
  • Scallion pancakes - Cook on a pan with oil. Set heat to around 3 or 4 on hot plate. Cook until nicely brown. Set in chafing dish. Cut with scissors into smallish pieces. Try not to use too much oil.
  • Food finished just on time (started at 11:30)
  • Fruit - learn how to tell if fruit are ripe before going shopping. Grace and I bought a pineapple, and we had to google 'how to tell if a pineapple is ripe' on our phones at Shaw's. Apparently if you pull on a leaf from the 2nd to back row (what's the back row) and it comes off easily, it's a ripe pineapple.... was super sketch
