2017 - April 8, CPW Activities Midway

Description

Serve shaved ice to the Class of 2021 and try to get them to join ATS! Also hand out business cards to pub about Bobafest, which is in the afternoon! We got the same toppings as we did last year, so things were fine. Midway is also an easier event in general, so we had no significant manpower issues. As was the case last year, exec could choose whether to help at Midway or Bobafest later in the afternoon.

Materials

  • Toppings (see last year's list)
  • Garbage bags (as disposable tablecloths)
  • Ice shaver (we have two, but one was broken). Buy a new ice shaver next year!
  • ice from BC in ATS cooler.
  • Cups, bowls, lots of spoons. Bring a lot so we don't run out!

Planning

  • Remember to get a booth with power.
  • We got a ton of business cards advertising Midway and Bobafest. These only say "Saturday at 1pm / 4pm", so we can use these again next year! We have a lot left over, so probably don't need to order more next year.

Event

  • Shopping happened on the day of, which was not ideal. In the future, we should make the CMart trip earlier.
  • Draining lychees was annoying to do on the spot.
  • We thought putting things in ziploc bags was sketchy last year. But not pre-prepping was messier. Verdict: either way is fine.
  • Using lychee jars from care packages to hold toppings was a great idea.
  • Get red bean paste, not red bean sand.
  • Leftover toppings should go in storage unless opened, in which case they should be given away for free to exec or something.
